Bloomsburg Downs Philadelphia University in Field Hockey

PHILADELPHIA --The top-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team remained unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over Philadelphia University on Thursday.

Sophomore Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) scored once and had one assist to lead Bloomsburg to the win.

Sophomore Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) put the Huskies on the board with the only goal of the first half off an assist from Vanartsdalen just 2:49 into the game.

Senior Maribeth Brozena (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) made it a 2-1 game when she scored off an assist from Ashley Heckard (Oley/Oley Valley) with 21 minutes to play in the game. Then, after Philadelphia cut the deficit in half with a goal two minutes later, Vanartsdalen iced the game with a goal with seven minutes to play with Venessa Witman (Oley/Oley Valley) picking up the assist.

In goal, Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) stopped three shots in the win.

Bloomsburg, now 8-0 will play Bellarmine of Kentucky on Sunday at IUP starting at noon.
